Sell This & You Will Sell More of EVERYTHING!

Spread the love

Could one phrase from John Lennon help us sell more products and services?

Absolutely.

When I was 5 years old, my mother told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. – John Lennon

How can we increase our sales and revenue with this short quote?

There is no doubt that we are constantly seeking happiness in our lives as humans. The act of purchasing things is one way we feel good and fulfilled. From buying a new outfit to investing in a new car, we often believe that purchasing something will bring us happiness.

But why is this? Why do our decisions to purchase something come from our internal desire to be happy? In this article, we will explore this concept further.

  1. The pursuit of pleasure

At our core, we are pleasure-seeking creatures. Ideally, we want to be able to experience pleasure as well as avoid pain as much as possible. When we purchase something, we believe that it will bring us joy and happiness. It may be a temporary pleasure, but it still satisfies our desire for pleasure. It is important to remember that most of this is a level of awareness that is unconscious.

2. Social status

We also purchase things in order to gain social status, which is another reason why we buy things. We believe that owning certain things will make us more desirable or valuable to others. This can be a status symbol, like owning a luxury car, or simply purchasing items that are trendy or fashionable. We believe that owning these things will make us happy because we will be perceived as more successful or desirable.

3. Self-expression

Purchasing things can also be a form of self-expression. Individuals believe that their possessions reflect their character. By purchasing things that align with our values or interests, we believe that we are expressing ourselves and making ourselves happy.

4. Sense of control

Many times we simply feel that we are losing control in certain areas of our life, or maybe never even had control. When we purchase something that could benefit us in a particular area, we feel that we are making a great decision. For example, people often feel healthier after purchasing a home gym or dietary supplements. If you’re selling someone something, show them how it will give them control, and how that part of their life will be improved.

You could say that every decision we make in life, is to discover or keep happiness. People get married, get divorced, begin relationships, and end relationships, in order to find happiness.

Sell the solution to their problem, and yes, sell happiness.

Again, this is mostly done at an unconscious level. So, how are you positioning your products or services in a way that will overtly and covertly imply happiness will be achieved when they consume your offer and purchase your product or service.
