Labeling theory shows that a person’s behavior is influenced by the words used to describe them…                                          

Studies have shown that these labels turn into self-fulfilling prophecies and when you label someone as intelligent, witty, stupid, having a bad memory, etc. can visibly impact the performance of the person in that area.                                        

This works well in all areas of life.  You label someone as a professional, clever, or thoughtful person, they will act consistently with that label. And it’s so easy to do. You can mention it face-to-face, via email, over the phone, even social media.
